52 Weeks of Selfies: Week 7

This has been a pretty big week! I've been helping with some major house renovations and know that the DIY phase of my life is really just beginning. I've cleaned and cleaned and cleaned! I can honestly say that when I went to dinner last night with my best friend and her uncle I felt like it was a well deserved break. I can see that in my face.

This is a selfie of adventure! Believe it or not (because you can barely  see it behind my head) this picture was taken in front of a GIANT armadillo statue in front of the Perini Ranch.

The other faces in this picture mean a lot to me. When I look at Uncle I see the man that raised my best friend. He's been a great teacher and confidant to me as well! His endless patiences, his knowledge of the outdoors, and his wisdom are amazing. (He even taught me how to fish! He did a pretty good job too. My first big fish was a catfish the size of my leg - I've got pictures!).
Becky is like my sister. I adore her. Hers is the face of a mother, wife, sister. She is a DIY champion. She is my co-pilot on nearly all of my adventures. She's my best cheerleader. Her face is tired. We'd had a long day (but somehow we both managed to find the energy to get all dolled up ;) ).

Neither Becky nor I had ever been, but we'd heard a lot about it. The drive was about an hour and a half from where we live. It's located in Buffalo Gap, Texas (which is a pretty charming little town  for you Texas people if you've got an afternoon with nothing to do).

The Perini Ranch was pretty hopping. It was hard to find a parking spot. The drinks were strong, the steak was juicy, and the dessert was amazing. It was a delicious ending to a busy week!

In Other News:

The Ambrotype has opened an online store! I made a decision (a hard decision) to begin selling my paintings. Some of my work is featured on The Ambrotype's website and also on Etsy. More will be added periodically, as well as other items. Be sure to stop on by! Come in, we're open!

Sunday was not the day of rest in my house. This was a weekend warrior weekend.

If you look behind me you can see some of the new cabinets (and a new paint job) in the kitchen of our house. It wasn't the only remodel project that we worked on this weekend. My roomies and I also replaced the sink in the master bathroom. The kitchen remodel was easier and also harder than I thought it would be. The kitchen seems so might lighter and bigger!!

This weekend was a busy weekend. I bought tile, I snuggled a sick little baby, visited with friends, and I finished a painting.

I look happy in this picture, but I'm also tired. This was taken on Sunday afternoon, after three days of planning and two days of hard work (and most of it wasn't even my doing!). I am excited to see what the next weekend will bring!

I have found countless pictures of my ancestors with random people, generally their neighbors or friends. I've joked with my adopted family members that I'm going to be that person for them. Generations from now, some genealogist is going to be looking at the family pictures wondering who the heck I am because they certainly can't find me in the family tree.

This picture is just another contribution. I absolutely adore this baby (please note amazing new blinds in the background too). She's my three month old "niece." It's hard to believe that three months ago I was standing next to her mother when this child was born. It was 24 actual hours of labor. I was there for it from the first hour until the last.

She is my parent's first "grandchild." This picture was taken solely for Mimi, my mother.

This kid even crashed my family reunion (and I'm pretty sure she's going to visit the one in October also). I think this might be one of my favorite selfies, and it's definitely because of the little lambkin sitting on my lap.

We have three main firework shows between the 3rd and 4th of July. I took this selfie on the 3rd of July. In my hometown the 3rd of July is kind of a big deal. The city puts on a pops concert. The symphony plays patriotic music and film scores (which, lets be honest I love).

In the past my family and I would watch the fireworks from the rooftop of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. This year we had the Watt reunion! We were able to see the fireworks from the hotel (right up the river from the show).

In this picture I'm surrounded by my family (even though they aren't in the picture with me).
We all lined up on the balcony to watch the fireworks, the heat of the air conditioning units blowing on the back of our legs and making it even warmer.

The 3rd of July always makes me think of my grandmother, who loved having us all together to watch the fireworks. What I loved about this 3rd of July is that even though my grandmother is not physically with us, more of our family gathered for the 3rd of July in San Angelo, Texas than ever before.

I love family history and the various ways that it can be approached by researchers! I hope that this blog is interesting and inspiring!
