The Homes of the Frantz Family
The First Frantz HomeThe first Frantz home was located at 1812 S. Main in Weatherford, Texas. Ezra and Mary Frantz lived in this home during the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The home had belonged to Mary Frantz's parents, the Buckley's.
The granddaughter of Ezra and Mary Frantz wrote: Not until I moved here did I sort out these facts. Frantz family home on S. Main [was] 7 acres. Ray, Ruby, Nellie, and Josephine [were] born here. Aunt Florence Brubaker, E.A.'s niece, lived with them. Our great grandparents W.B. and Ellen Buckley lived on [a] farm farther south. E.A. sold home to his father-in-law and [the] Frantz clan, plus little Joe, moved to W. Columbia [and] then to the big home on Lamar St. Our great grandparents lived in the Main St. home until their deaths. |
The Florida HouseThe family lived for a time in Florida when Ezra joined his brother Peter in the real estate boom.
A granddaughter of Ezra and Mary Frantz stated: I thought [the] Frantz family lived two or three years in Miami. They lived here only seven months, returning around or after Christmas 1925. Nellie and Josephine had a wonderful social life in high school and with Uncle Peter's family. [Nellie's] diaries made them seem like debutants! They loved and missed family and friends in Weatherford and Fort Worth. All were happy to return to the home on Oakland Blvd. in Fort Worth. |
The Bridge St. HouseThe Frantz family lived at 312 Bridge St. in Weatherford from 1933 to the 1960s. Jim Dickey built a rocky building on the property, tables, benches, the wishing well and birdbath, walkways, fences, and gates. One of the Frantz grandchildren was born on the property. This was the last home of Ezra and Mary Frantz.
