William Buckley, the son of John Buckley and Malvina Staring, was born about 1710 in Virginia. William lived his whole life in Virginia. He was born English and died an American in 1789.

John Leland Buckley (1815-1868)
John Leland Buckley was born in Kentucky in 1815. He married Elizabeth Ezell (1818-1871). The family would move from Kentucky to Illionis, where John died in 1868. John and Elizabeth had the following children: Columbus Carter (1836-1924), Martha (1840-1932), William berriman (1841-1932), John Webb (1846-1928), James Smith (1848-1933), Zechariah Taylor (1851-1915), Emma (1852-), Mary Elizabeth (1858-), and Ada.

His date of service entry was August 12, 1862. he was twenty-six years old. He served for three years. The muster record date is September 19, 1862 at Camp Butler. Columbus is described as being about 5'9" and having brown hair and blue eyes. He was a corporal in the 117th Illinois Infantry Company G.1

William Berriman Buckley (1841-1932)
William was born in April 1841 in Kentucky. By the 1900 census, William is listed as a farmer. When he was 27 years old his father died. His mother passed away when he was 30. When he was 33 years old he married Mary Ellen Pigg (1858-1955). She was sixteen at the time of their marriage. Their first child, a daughter, was born in 1876. They named her Mary Lavana. Their next child, James William, was born in 1880, and he was followed by Frank in 1881, John in 1883, Sarah Elizabeth in 1886 and Louie, the baby, in 1905.
William's daughter, Mary, married Ezra Frantz in 1896 when she was twenty years old. They had four children and adopted their fifth: Ray William (1898-1976), Ruby (1903-1976), Nellie (1908-1998), Josephine (1911-2003), and Joseph Bertram (1917-1993).
